Message of the Catholic Organization for Life and Family (COLF)
on the occasion of the National March for Life – Ottawa, May 13, 2010
In his encyclical Evangelium Vitae, Pope John Paul II cautioned that abortion poses “an immense threat to life: not only to the life of individuals but also to that of civilization itself." This strong warning rings true today, as we need look no further than our own communities to witness the devastating aftermath of abortion. Abortion has destroyed countless innocent lives and deeply scarred women, men, and children from all walks of life, leaving our society deeply wounded.

COLF SUPPORTS "ROXANNE'S LAW" |
|
The Catholic Organization for Life and Family (COLF) would like to commend Mr. Rod Bruinooge, Member of Parliament for Winnipeg South, for introducing Bill
C-510, an Act to Prevent Coercion of Pregnant Women to Abort (Roxanne’s Law), on April 15, 2010.
Bill C-510 aims at guaranteeing respect for the integrity and dignity of pregnant women, by protecting their physical and psychological well-being. In a nation that values motherhood, laws should in every way possible defend the right of women to bring their children to term safely. Pregnant women facing coercion to abort and fearing for their safety should also, and in all regions, have access to social services providing a safe haven and support.
COLF encourages all Canadian citizens to contact their Members of Parliament to ask them to support Bill C-510.

Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide: Why Not? |
November 2009
A ccording to some surveys, three-quarters of Canadians would favour the legalizationof euthanasia. Above all, they fear one day becoming a burden and having their lives unduly prolonged in suffering.
Given the immense confusion surrounding euthanasia, it is reasonable to question these statistics and some unreliable surveys. It is more than likely that the majority of citizenswould change their minds if they were properly informed.

HIGH-TECH BABIES… EXPLORING NEW CHALLENGES TO HUMAN DIGNITY |
May 2009
In less than 30 years, a new multi-billion dollar industry has developed around the world and now regularly makes the headlines: ASSISTED PROCREATION. Its promise is irresistible: the infertile couple could bring home a baby!
In this 12 page brochure, written in accessible language, the Catholic Organization for Life and Family (COLF) takes a good look at this issue and reflects on the suffering of infertile couples, on the technologies used to create life and on their impact on the life of people and society.
Youth and adults will find here answers to a number of questions so many people ask: what causes infertility? How effective is in vitro fertilization? What about genetic screening? Are all assisted procreation technologies ethically acceptable? A must read!
