September 2006
Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week,
twelve months a year, the media bombards us with a variety of
information and opinions. Their impact on our ways of living and
thinking is real and their power is immense. In its annual Message to
Families, the Catholic Organization for Life and Family (COLF)
encourages parents and children to become media-savvy consumers, and to
get actively involved in the media.
Christ’s disciples have never had
access to more powerful and effective means to promote truth, justice
and common good. However, we must learn to testify to others about what
gives meaning to our lives! This colourful leaflet offers concrete ways
to acquire media competence — the “Media Workshop 101”.
With your
family, friends and colleagues, at home, in your parish, school or
university, learn to speak up on important issues. Here is a valuable
resource for the faithful who want to make a difference in Canadian
society!
